Blackbelt Commerce is proud to announce the deployment of the new website for Judith Leiber Couture. On Monday 27th August 2018, the iconic American brand went live at Judithleiber.com, delighting fashion icons around the world with an infamous collection of clutches, handbags, and purses.

Judith Leiber is best known for designing crystal minaudières (decorated clutches and handbags without handles or straps), the likes of which have been spotted on the arms of Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian-West and Liz Taylor. Leiber’s designs have also featured in TV and film—most notably in HBO series and film adaptation of Sex and the City.

Leiber’s clients also include multiple First Ladies of the United States, as well as Greta Garbo, and the Queen. Her handbags are displayed in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

These designs are by no means ordinary. Judith Leiber handbags come in an array of whimsical, daring shapes – including martinis, bunches of asparagus stalks, French fries and candy peppermints. The minaudières can be found on her website, along with a range of bespoke pieces and more traditional satin clutches.

Judith Leiber’s career as a designer and businesswoman spanned three decades and stemmed from an inspiring backstory. Leiber was a Holocaust survivor who avoided Nazi persecution in war-torn Hungary during World War ll. She was also the first woman to graduate as a master craftswoman and subsequently became a member of the Hungarian Handbag Guild in Budapest. She founded her company, Judith Leiber Couture, in 1963.

The celebrated American/Hungarian icon passed away in April 2018 at the age of 97, but her brand and legacy have not been forgotten. Leiber sold her company back in 1993. Its current co-owner and creative director, Dee Hilfiger, plans to carry on the designer’s maximalist, bejeweled legacy (both online and in boutiques around the world) for generations to come.
