Part 1 Of 2: Australia Post For Shopify Has Arrived!
A long-standing challenge for Australian-based Shopify store owners has been:
How can I integrate my store with real-time carrier rates from Australia Post? In other words: I want AusPost to automatically calculate shipping for me when customers check out.
This morning I received an email from Shopify Australia that this is finally here. I’ll be letting all my Australian clients know about this.
I would suggest using this app to set it up: https://www.blackbeltcommerce.com/go/australia-post-shipping-extension/
Part 2 Of 2: Shopify 2 Becomes Official
Shopify’s new admin interface — which sounds boring, but which store owners spend a lot of time in and therefore can benefit from — is now officially launched. Many stores have had the option to switch for months, and all new stores in the past 2-3 months have only had Shopify 2 available — but this morning was the official launch.
The most important piece here for store owners is the nice new FAQ Shopify has put together about the new stuff Shopify 2 offers. Rather than go into detail in this post, I’ll link to it:

We don’t receive anything out of spreading this information. I just wanted all our Australian clients to know about this ASAP, as I believe it’s a game-changer for many Australian businesses on Shopify. If you need any help with this, we put a small offer together to help as well.

HI Tristan
Thanks for the update on the Auspost shipping app. Just wondering if there is a way to use it without integrating into your store? For example, I don’t charge my customers shipping, but would find it useful to be able to see what the item will cost me to ship.
Hi Nic!
Good question. I don’t *think* there is at the moment – I think it’s only for the front end. You could try emailing the developers, though (via the two links above) to check – maybe they have a way to do it 😉
Thanks,
Tristan.
